System and User Requirements for Software Installation

There are a number of applications and system settings that are required in order for the Prospecting Plug-in to work first time. The main requirements for installation of this CRM software solution are listed below.
  • Microsoft Access must be installed (Administrators only)
  • Microsoft Excel must be installed on all user pc's
  • Microsoft Outlook must be installed on all user pc's. Outlook enables the delivery of the Prospects Applications as well as tracking the results of sales leads. Both functions are achieved through the email functionality contained within Microsoft Outlook. If Microsoft Outlook isn't available an alternative distribution method is also available by making use of the File Directory.
  • Access to an existing Marketing Database containing all pertinent customer information is required.
  • Automatic File Transfer (also known as FTP for File Transfer Protocol) - requires an Administrator to be able to run executable files on their computer. If this isn't available then the automatic FTP functionality can be substituted for manual FTP followed by some visual basic code that allows the user to browse for and locate the file to import.
  • Front-end users must
    • a) be able to allow macros in Microsoft Excel once the Prospecting Application is delivered, OR
    • b) be able to install a trust certificate on their system (possible through a Microsoft Outlook administrator by using the Active Directory Service.)
  • The administrator should be able to navigate and understand basic elements of Microsoft Access. Further, a knowledge of VBA would be useful for hand-over purposes. A support arrangement is offered as part of the package if the skills aren't available in-house.
  • For Microsoft Outlook 2003 or above the Administrator must be able to install a VBA module in their Outlook client.
  • A shared distribution email address must be created for sending Prospecting Apps and receiving results files (Alternatively you could opt for Directory delivery rather than email.)
  • In order to set-up the marketing database correctly there is a requirement to set-up a new table to store the outcomes of the leads that are delivered to sales staff. There is a SQL script included in the Prospecting plug-in that can be run to do this. Suitable permissions will need to be given in order to run this script.
